From each Institutional Profile, users can:
Finding an institution in Scopus is easy.
First Click on the Organization search and then enter your search terms.
Your search will return multiple institutions, and parts of larger organizations. For WVU there are several organizations listed including West Virginia University, West Virginia University School of Medicine, and WVU Tech.
Scopus builds institution profiles from the affiliation text in the articles it indexes. Scopus algorithms can identify name variations and link them into one profile.
Affiliation IDs are assigned to the "parent" institution, as well as any "child" institutions in the institution's hierarchy.
Due to the great variation in the way authors and publishers represent affiliations, this automated process can never be exact. Some variants may be missed, and others may be inappropriately included. Authorized users with knowledge of the institution can manually review alternate names to make sure profiles are correct and complete.
Below is a screen shot of WVU's profile where you can quickly see the number of documents and authors indexed in Scopus as well as a break down of the most popular subject areas our faculty publish in.
From the institutional profile page you can also view the organizational structure of the University, and this will allow you to analyze major sub-sections of WVU that have been used in the author information for indexed publications. You will notice that some colleges, such as the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, are not represented.
One possible alternative is to construct an advanced search that will give you the approximate results for analyzing the research output of a specific department or school within an institution.
Use the Advanced search in Scopus.

However for a more comprehensive result you will need to search each author or individual within a department or school and then combine these searches using search history and the connector OR, under advanced search.
