Open Licenses for sharing your work

Balancing the rights of creators and users. Open licenses grant users some permissions to use and distribute a work, permission not granted by the default "all rights reserved" of copyright.

Software may be owned by the University

The current IP policy at WVU has a potentially important exception to the general Copyright Ownership Policy for Software:

"If the work is computer software developed either within the scope of university employment, within the scope of sponsored research, or through more than an incidental use of university resources, the university owns the work."
