Google Scholar is a popular database, and one most people are familiar with, even if they don't use other databases. It quickly and easily searches a wide range of other sources and citations for its results, which means you can see a lot of information quickly.
However, this ease of access means it's lacking in some of the more in depth search features, refinements and advanced options that other databases might have. Instead of limiting your results with filters, you will need to be more selective with your search terms. This means Google Scholar is great for seeing what is available in a broad search, or for when you have a very specific phrase in mind, but it stumbles in that middle ground.
While anyone can access Google Scholar from anywhere, we recommend that you access it either from the database page link (below), or you take the time to configure your profile. This makes it so that Google Scholar will prioritize results you have full text access to, and provide direct links to them as well.
