The Research Repository @ WVU

Benefits of Using the Research Repository

Visibility

Work that is uploaded to the Research Repository is freely accessible to researchers worldwide. Your work will be displayed alongside that of your WVU colleagues, and will receive a custom cover page with complete citation information, ensuring that you always receive credit for your research.

Impact

Materials in the Research Repository are indexed in popular search engines like Google and Google Scholar and discoverable through the Digital Commons Network (a free, open access collection of scholarship from hundreds of universities and colleges worldwide). Including your work in the Research Repository makes your work easier to find for researchers around the world.

Readership Statistics

When you deposit research in the Research Repository, you will receive access to a custom Author Dashboard which allows you to view real-time download information for all of your deposited works. You will also receive monthly readership reports, with information about how many times your work has been downloaded.

Professional Preservation & Curation

Materials deposited in the Research Repository are professionally curated by WVU Librarians, and preserved to ensure their long term availability. The Research Repository provides permanent URLs so that you can safely link to your work from anywhere without having to worry about 404 errors.

Copyright Permissions Support

The WVU Libraries Scholarly Communications and Publishing team provides expertise to help you determine what you can legally share in the Research Repository, and elsewhere (such as professional websites, departmental websites, and networking sites like Academia.edu and ResearchGate). Faculty members can take advantage of our Faculty Assisted Deposit pilot program by requesting a consultation. We can also answer your questions about author's rights, copyright, Open Access publishing, and other scholarly communications issues.
