Prepare to Practice – Ace Your Summer Job is a half-day program of legal research topics including: “Researching with free and low-cost legal sources”, “Bloomberg Law: Research Basics” and “Legislative research & court rules”. The program builds on basic research skills covered in the Introduction to Legal Research course and prepares students for summer employment in firms, public interest organizations, or government. The morning features group sessions and smaller break-out sessions tailored to type of summer employment.
The program will conclude with lunch and an exceptional panel discussion with practitioners who will share their experience conducting legal research in the real world. Panelists include:
- Justice Larry Starcher, Lecturer in Law and former Chief Justice of the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals
- Krista Ford, Director of Library Services, Steptoe & Johnson
- Kevin Gillen, Judicial Law Clerk at for West Virginia 15th Circuit.
Lunch will be provided.
