Industry Information & Trends

As you prepare for the job search and interview process, it is helpful to understand the larger (marco) trends of a given industry.  Industry reports (from databases including IBISWorld and Mergent Intellect's First Research) provide such data as performance indicators, product and service segmentation, key buying and selling industries (i.e. supply chain), business challenges, and the like.

The North American Industry Classification System is the standard (numeric code) used by Federal statistical agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy. Look up your industry's code using the link below.

Create a List of Prospective Companies

Don't have a particular company in mind? Would you like to generate a list of all companies operating in a specific industry? And limit the list to companies located in a particular geographic area? Or companies of a particular size? Use the ADVANCED search in the Mergent Intellect database to combine a NAICS code with an additional limiter (location, size, type, etc.) OR the COMPANIES search in LexisNexis to generate targeted lists.
