Definitions
- Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM): "The author’s final version that has been accepted for journal publication and includes all revisions resulting from the peer review process, including all associated tables, graphics, and supplemental material."
- Final Published Article: "The journal's authoritative copy, including journal or publisher copyediting and stylistic edits, and formatting changes, even prior to the compilation of a volume or issue or the assignment of associated metadata."
- Version of Record (VOR): See Final Published Article definition above.
- Official Date of Publication: "The date on which the Final Published Article is first made available in final, edited form, whether in print or electronic (i.e., online) format."
- Gold Open Access: Publishers charge an article processing charge (APC) or similar fee. The majority of Gold OA journals use an author-pays model. But Gold OA journals articles can also be supported institutional agreements.
- Green Open Access: also knows as author self-archiving Green OA is the practice of authors posting a version of their work (often the AAM) to a institutional repository (Research Repository @WVU) or funder supported repository such as PubMed Central.
- Diamond/Platinum Open Access: Journals that publish Open Access without charging authors article processing or similar charges. These journals are often supported by academic institutions, learned societies, and foundations.
