Discover Resources

Try it Out: EBSCO Discovery Service

EBSCO Discovery is the WVU Library Catalog. This platform allows discovery of most library resources, including books, articles, and media, in a single unified search.

Try it Out: Library Databases

WVU Libraries licenses online databases, giving you access to academic and news articles, books, journals, primary sources, streaming media, and much more.

Some databases are generals such as Academic Search Complete, ProQuest Central, and Scopus which contain multiple subject areas and content types. Some databases are subject specific and contain resources on a focused area. Try out some databases for yourself or ask the library which works best for you.

Try it Out: General Databases

General purpose databases are good starting points for novice researchers. These databases contain all subjects and various format types such as academic titles, popular magazines, newspapers, and videos.

Try it Out: Resource Specific Databases

There are general subject databases that also contain one type of document. For instance, the databases, Scopus, contains only peer-reviewed articles.

Try it Out: Publication Finder

Individual publications can also provide some insight about you topic. Use browzine to see which publication the library has access to.

Locate Impact Scores of Publications

The impact scores of journal are determined by citation tracking, or citation analysis. This is an important tool used to trace scholarly research, measure impact, and inform tenure and funding decisions. The impact of an article is evaluated by counting the number of times other authors cite it in their work.
