Technical Art History

What is Technical Art History?

"Technical art history...emphasizes the scientific study of structures of art and objects, within art historical contexts, and values hands-on experience in preventative art conservation, conservation and restoration of artifacts, and reconstruction techniques." (from WVU School of Art & Design)

For inspiration read: "The Journals and Experiences of Eight Women in Hands-On Preservation Careers,"  from the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Preservation Magazine, Summer 2019.
