Overview: Law Library Access and Services

The Law Library’s highest priority is to provide information resources and support for our staff, students, faculty, and users while safeguarding the health, well-being, and academic success of all our faculty, staff, students, and users.

In Spring 2020 we closed our library stacks and library space in response to the pandemic.  We opened our stacks and portions of the library space to members of the College of Law and WVU communities on August 15, 2020. All WVU Law students, faculty and staff must swipe their WVU ID to enter the Law Library. WVU patrons not affiliated with the College of Law cannot swipe in and must call 304-293-5300 to make an appointment to visit the Law Library.  Some parts of the Law Library will remain closed for the foreseeable future due to continuing concerns regarding the health and well-being of our users. Persons using the library are expected to follow all University and library guidelines including social distancing and mask protocols.  Reference services will be conducted remotely.  Please see the related tabs in this guide for more information. 

Law Library Summer 2021 Hours

Law Library summer hours commence Saturday, May 8, 2021. Summer 2021 hours are as follows. Monday – Friday: 9:00 A.M – 4:00 P.M. (Swipe access until 10:00 P.M.). Saturday – Sunday: Swipe access from 12:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. May 2021 WVU Law graduates will retain swipe access to August, 2021. WVU patrons not affiliated with the College of Law must continue to call in advance to make an appointment before visiting the Law Library. The physical Law Library will continue to be closed to the public but with full online services available. Physical access will remain closed to all non-WVU users until further notice. While physical access to the Law Library is restricted, the Law Library remains open. The Law Library staff is available and continues to work remotely to fulfill your information needs.
