Frequently students will need to find background or basic information on terms or concepts in science. Here are two sources with content from dictionaries, encyclopedias, and handbooks.

CREDO Reference
A collection of nearly 500 encyclopedias, dictionaries, and other reference books provides a good starting point for research.
AccessScience: McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology Online (4 users)
A science and technology encyclopedia containing articles written by the leading figures in their fields and including high-quality illustrations.
