Online CSE Guides

The Council of Science Editors (CSE) is a specific style to be used when citing information and organizing a research paper.  The CSE documentation style is used in the sciences, including biology, ecology, zoology, and medicine.

The following web pages demonstrate the use of the Name-Year (N-Y) system.

Managing Citations with RefWorks

One of the main ingredients in the ethical use of information is correctly citing sources.  With RefWorks you can create a database of citations, put them in folders, create a bibliography, insert citations as you type your paper, and much more.

Installing Write-n-Cite in Microsoft Word

Use RefWorks' Write-n-Cite while typing your paper in Microsoft Word.  Here is how to install it:

  1. Close Word
  2. In RefWorks, find Tools in the pull down menu in your login name
  3. Select Download and Install for the version of Write-n-Cite for your operating system
  4. Save the .exe file
  5. Open Word and login
  6. Wait for your database to load into Word
