No Author

The general format and example below refers to a book with no author or editor.

For books with no identifiable author or editor, substitute the title for the author. Begin the in-text reference with the first few words of the title, followed by "...". Use only as many words as are necessary to distinguish the book from the other titles you are listing.

General Format

In-Text Citation:
(Title date)

Reference List:
Title of Book. Edition. Year. Place of publication (State or Prov): Publisher name. Number of pages p.

Example

In-Text Citation:
(The encyclopedic dictionary... 1986)
 
Reference List:

The encyclopedic dictionary of psychology. 3rd ed. 1986. Guilford (CT): Dushkin Publishing Group.
