Engineering applies science and mathematics to solve practical problems from everyday life. Engineering uses physics, chemistry, materials science, mechanics, thermodynamics, systems analysis and mathematics to create a new and optimal solution.

This guide presents different tools available to engineers: books, articles, and handbooks and encyclopaedias.  Other tools will be added later.

New Engineering Databases

Jane's All the Worlds's Aircraft: Development and Production

Electronic access to Jane's All the World's Aircraft: Development and Production.  Download images and text in MSWORD or PDF format.

Merck Index Online

The Royal Society of Chemistry's Merck Index is a source of information on chemicals, drugs and biologicals.  The advanced search offers a number of ways to discover chemicals using both text and properties.  Researchers may also search by structure and named reactions.
