Why It Matters

The Campus Read fosters an exchange of ideas and critical thinking through thoughtful dialog. Make new connections and talk about important ideas with other Mountaineers.

The Campus Read is a voluntary program, and the book has been adopted by faculty in many courses across campus enabling them to explore themes in the book within their disciplines. The campus and community are invited to participate in a series of events throughout the year discussing themes of segregation, sex discrimination, women in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), the race into space, the power of education, and West Virginians who have made a significant contribution to society.
