Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Resources: EndNote Basic

This subject guide provides a starting point for research in psychiatry.

Basic Guide to EndNote Basic

EndNote is a software program that allows you to store and manage your references and images.  EndNote will format your references in whatever style you choose -- APA, Vancouver, Chicago Manual of Style, etc.     EndNote works with word processing software to allow you to insert citations directly into your paper, building your bibliography as you insert your citations.     You can import references into EndNote from many online databases.

Accessing EndNote Basic

If you already have a Web of Science account, then you've got an ENDNOTE Basic account.

Create an account to begin. You must be on campus to create an account. EndNote Basic

Share Your Library

EndNote X7 introduced a new sharing mode and EndNote X8 and X9 expand on it:

  • Share your library with anyone who’s using EndNote X7, X8, or X9  (up to 100 people)
  • Share your entire EndNote library, including references, PDFs, and annotations
  • Everyone can add to, annotate and use the library – at the same time and track who is making changes
  • There’s no charge for sharing, no library size limit and no charge for unlimited cloud storage
  • Please note in order to be able to share your library you will first need to setup EndNoteSync.
  • To sync go to TOOLS>SYNC or use the Sync Button.

Once the library is synced, go to FILE>SHARE and enter the email of users you wish to invite to share your library or use the Share Button. They will receive an email and instructions. All users must be running X7 or X8. Use HELP>CHECK FOR UPDATES to confirm you are running the latest version of EndNote.
