About Citing Web Pages

Elements you must include when citing a web page:

- [Internet] after the title of the page
- Date you are citing the page and date the web page was updated, if known
- The URL at the end of the citation and after the phrase Available from:

Basic Web Page

The general format and example below refers to a web page.

When citing a web page you must include the date it was accessed, and the URL.  If the web page lists a date when it was updated, include that before the cited date.

General Format

In-Text Citation:
(Title date)

Reference List:
Title of homepage [Internet]. Date. Edition. Place of publication: Publisher; [updated date; cited date]. Available from: URL.

Example

In-Text Citation:
(PDRHealth 2010)
 
Reference List:

PDRHealth [Internet]. 2010. Montvale (NJ): PDRHealth; [cited 2011 Jan 24]. Available from: http://www.pdrhealth.com/
