Images Deserve Credit, Too!

The images you include in your thesis must be captioned.  Here are the basic elements.  The first 6 relate specifically to the content of the image or illustration.  If your image content is not a work of art, you may not need all 6.  After identifying the content of the image, you need to identify the source, in other words, where you got the image from.  Use the list on the left to identify images from a book.  Use the list on the right to identify images from a web site.

    1. Artist's name
    2. Title
    3. Year of composition
    4. Medium
    5. Institution or private collection that houses the work
    6. City
  1. Title of Book.
  2. Author or editor.
  3. City:
  4. Publisher,
  5. Year of publication.
  6. Page number, figure number or plate number.
  7. Medium of reproduction.
    1. Title of Web site.
    2. Web.
    3. Date of access (day, month, year).
    4. <URL is optional>.

    Homework for Class 2 (prepare ahead and bring to class)

    Comparing ________, MLA International Bibliography, and Google Scholar

    1. Search ________ for all publications authored by Jay Malarcher, except the Theatre Symposium "Introductions."  Create a Works Cited list of these sources in MLA Style.
    2. Search EbscoHost's MLA International Bibliography database for all publications authored by Jay Malarcher.  Create a Works Cited list of these sources in MLA Style.
    3. Search Google Scholar for all publications authored by Jay Malarcher.  Create a Works Cited list of these sources in MLA Style.
    4. Copy and paste each Works Cited list into a single Word document, keeping each set of results separate, i.e.:  Works Cited from Summon, Works Cited from MLA International Bibliography, Works Cited from Google Scholar.
    5. Email your Word file to jay.malarcher@mail.wvu.edu no later than 9 a.m. on Friday, August 28th.
