Search Strategy Tips

Why use more than one article database? Because extent of literature coverage varies.

If you have a citation, you can use the eJournals List to search for the journal and find the article.

Check the boxes on one or more databases (Academic Search Premier, Agricola, CAB Abstracts, Education Search Complete, etc) and then Continue. Using the Advanced Search, type the topic in the first box and a narrower terms in the next box(es). Some full text is available.

Use JSTOR to find scholarly articles that are 3 to 5 years old, no current content. Type the topic in the advanced search boxes. To find only articles: under the heading Limit by:/Type: check the box for Article. All full text.

This is the world's most comprehensive collection of dissertations and theses from around the world, spanning from 1743 to the present day and offering full text for graduate works added since 1997, along with selected full text for works written prior to 1997. It contains a significant amount of new international dissertations and theses both in citations and in full text.

Type the topic in the first box with Topic selected in the pull down menu. Add a narrower term describing your topic in the next box. Be sure the pull down menu shows Topic. Use the Find It @ WVU app to get to full text. WoK provides links and data on how an article has been cited.
