Citing Newspaper Articles in MLA Style

Last-name, First-name. “Title of Article.” Title of Newspaper  Day Month Year Published, edition: pages.  Database. Web. Day Month Year Accessed.

  • Include the city of publication if it is not already in the title of the newspaper.  For example:  Dominion Post [Morgantown].
  • If it's a nationally published newpaper (like the Wall Street Journal) no need to add the city.
  • Abbreviate names of months except May, June, and July:  Jan. Feb. Mar. Apr. May June July Aug. Sept. Oct. Nov. Dec.
  • Do not put volume and issue numbers in a newspaper citation.
