Access Services: Orientation for Graduate Assistants & Graduate Teaching Assistants: Borrowing and Renewing

Overview of the policies and procedures for obtaining and keeping library materials

Checking out library books

Once you've located a book in the stacks, present your WVU ID card at the Access Services desk to check it out.

Graduate students may borrow up to 100 items at one time.

Proxy accounts:  Faculty may have graduate students proxied to their account.  To set this up, the faculty member must come to the library with the proxy form and the student who is being added to the account.

Loan Periods and Renewals

Graduate students receive semester loans for regular books.  This means that books are due December 31, May 31 and August 31.

Examples of other loan periods:

Renewing books

Library books may be renewed online though the WorldCat catalog or in person.

Books may be renewed up to 30 days after the due date, without penalty.  However, on the 31st day, a non-refundable fee of $10 is charged to the patrons account.
